The Lost

Chris Godber is a painter and mixed media artist from Congleton, Cheshire whose abstract and surreal work takes you on a journey to the mysterious and strange realms of the inner mind. Influenced by a diverse range of artistic trends and styles, his aim is to produce expressive thoughtful and reflective works that take us from the world we know, and transport us to a world beyond the imagination.

Diagnosed with Schizoaffective disorder at the age of 19, his experience of this illness has informed the tone of some of his work, in terms of the imagery and themes explored

Though abstract, his work often includes references to the real world, and symbolic allusions to mystical and transcendental states. His process is often one of building up a painting with thick acrylic paint until something emerges which has a solid form, and thus improvisation is a major part of his creativity.

Some artists who have inspired and continue to inspire Chris are: Ernst ludwig Kirchner. Kandinsky, Joan Miro, H.R. Giger, Alan Davie, Jackson Pollock, J.M. Basquiat
